As noted on Wikipedia "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."-a proverbial phrase used frequently that can encourage optimism and a positive view in the face of negativity or adversity. It states lemons suggest sourness or challenges in life, while lemonade is sweet.
I often wonder how we are able to put these words into action when our personal and professional lives can seem to be consistently challenging!
I believe a combination of many things and the people we surround ourselves with contribute greatly to our abilities to forge onward!
Strength of mind and spirit, sense of humor, and compassion for others are three factors that help each of us to live out and remember the proverbial phrase. That is not the entire list of course...but it is what comes to mind today. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month...my PINK lemons are in honor of that.
I am grateful to know many survivors of this ravaging disease and even more grateful to have known those who have passed due to the disease. Grateful to all because in a world of insanity on many days...their fight gives us all strength! A sense of humor along with laughs and smiles helps to ease the pain and a sense of compassion for others challenges, those who are the care takers and healthcare providers and for the families who are also victims. We stop for moments and time and truly think about others or give ourselves time to actually focus on what we need to make that lemonade!
There is so much good in the world and in people but it is hard on many days to see that...especially during a medical crisis, a job change, a natural or man made disaster or...an election cycle here in the USA.
I will not become specifically political on this blog but it is only worth stating the fact that I am personally challenged to see how we will all make what many believe are lemons into lemonade! I refer myself and the rest of us back to the above...strength of mind and spirit, a sense of humor, and compassion for others. We need more of this 3 attributes to be reported on, spoken about, and lived! To not only help ourselves personally and professionally...but to help the true person in need regardless of circumstance...make their own lemonade!
Thank someone today, help someone today, make someone laugh today, say something nice to someone today...please.
Remember...anything is possible!
